what's happening right now ?

From July 8th to 15th 2010 the Nissan Outdoor Games took place in Chamonix/FR. Team against the grain is very happy to be able to be part of this competition and so Bernd Hornböck and Sebastian Kahn travelled to France to spend an interesting and busy week in Chamonix together with 14 more people, forming Team Argon.

It was a tough week and everybody was giving his best so that in the end we managed to win the Golden Peak Award for the best film at the Nissan Outdoor Games 2010.

Das Wetter schaut gut aus ! Nach Druchzug einer Kaltfront haben wir bis Freitag Rückseitenwetter. Samstag und Sonntag ist es sonnig und warm !

Alle Infos zur Flying Adventure Tour in Namibia sind nun wieder aktualisiert !

Einmal pro Jahr fahre ich ins schöne Berner Oberland, um mit Judith Zweifel ein Performance Training abzuhalten. Dieses Jahr kam jeder der Piloten auf insgsamt 9 Flüge ! Bei den Trainingsflügen wurden neben allen Klappervarianten, Spiralen und Stalls, auch Sackflug, Vrille, Heli, Mistyflip, Asymetrische Spirale, Sat to Heli und andere Acro Manöver unterrichtet. Jeder Pilot hatte einen sehr großen Lernerfolg, und niemand mußte die Rettung werfen ! Ein Zeichen dafür, dass mit den zur richtigen Zeit eingesetzten Therieblocks und Kurzbreefings vor dem Start, in der Luft keine unerwarteten Flugzustände mehr auftreten.

... sehr wertvolle Erfahrungen, positive Erlebnisse und einfach ein gutes Gefühl beim Rückblick auf diese intensiven Tage. Dies verdanke ich euch beiden und ich möchte mich hiermit nochmals ganz herzlich bei euch für euren grosen Einsatz und euer Vertrauen bedanken!
 
Falls ihr wieder ein Kurs anbietet, wäre ich wenn immer möglich, auch gerne wieder dabei und bitte.. macht weiter so!!

Die letzten drei Wochen verbrachte ich fast jeden Tag am Radsberg. Ausgestattet mit Camera und Schirm versuchte ich außergewöhnliche Perspektiven vom Kärntner Frühlingserwachen ab zu filmen.

Viel Spaß beim Film: Im Frühling

Eigentlich hatte ich mich recht kurzfristig zu einer Reise nach Indien entschlossen. Nachdem der Flug gebucht war und ein paar Eckpunkte der Reise im Hinterkopf waren, konnte es losgehen.
Ich lasse mich vom Land gerne überraschen und recherchiere nicht zuviel im vorhinein.

Nach einem Zwischenstop in Dubai setzte meine Maschine auf der Landebahn in Mumbai auf;  ready to go !
Eine Übernachtung in Mumbai durfte ich mir nach der langen Anreise gönnen und in einem Zug auch gleich eine gute Freundin aus Österreich besuchen, die hier schon die letzten paar Monate verbracht hat. Obwohl sie fasziniert ist von Mumbai, freute ich mich schon, die heiße und stickige Stadt verlassen zu können.

In Kamshet, einem kleinen Dorf zwischen Mumbai und Puna verbrachte ich eine Woche mit starken Flugbedingungen. Die Ranch von Sanjay (Nirvana Paragliding) liegt an einem ruhigen See fernab von Städten - mitten in der sog. “Pampa”. Ich wurde hier mit offenen Armen empfangen und konnte sogleich die Offenherzigkeit der Inder kennenlernen; diese Erfahrung wurde in den nächsten Wochen bestätigt.

Nach einer flugintensiven Woche freute ich mich schon, einige Freunde von zuhause in Goa zu treffen, wo wir zusammen Weihnachten und Neujahr verbringen würden. Die Reise dorthin war per "Sleeper Bus" gar nicht so schlimm, wie mir erzählt worden war :)
Goa wird Ende Dezember von sehr vielen Touristen besucht; zwar hält sich der Pauschaltourismus ein wenig zurück, doch kann es trotzdem “eng” werden.

Eine Weiterreise nach Gokarna im Bundesstaat Karnataka trieb mich an Strände, die sehr viel weniger von Touristen heimgesucht wurden. Einzelne Reisende aus der ganzen Welt, jedoch in einem harmonischen und wenig kommerziellen Verhältnis mit den Einheimischen. Einige Tage später - die Zeit schien zu verfliegen - war noch ein letzter Teiltrip nach Hampi geplant; landschaftlich und historisch (Tempel) sehr interessant; viele Boulderer vor Ort - die runden Felsen sind ein Kletterparadies.

Nirvana Paragliding Adventures

Seit nun fast 5 Wochen bin ich hier in Swakobmund stationiert. Ich wohne bei meinem Freund und Partner Mario von "Namibgliding". Die ersten 2 Wochen tourten wir zusammen mit Eli der Kueste entlang, um die besten Soaringspots zu befliegen.

Am 10. Jan startete unser 2 woechiger Paraglidinig - Safari - Adventure Trip. Unsere Kursteilnehmer hatten einzigartige Flugerlebnisse, einen grossen Lernerfolg sowie jede Menge Spass. Heute sind unsere Piloten alle wieder gesund und erholt in ihrer Heimat gelandet. Einen ausfuehrlichen Bericht aus Sicht der Teilnehmer gibt es in Sonjas Fliegerblog:

We just came back home from the Worldcup in Omegna. It was a lot of fun those days and we were happy to meet the whole crowd of acro pilots again and have a lot of fun.

Omegna is really a nice little city with the Lago di Orta - a very beautiful lake with crystal clear water; and they have some fuckin' good italian icecream ;)

In the worldcup competition Marcell took the 3rd place!

Bernd finished on the 6th place and Xandi became 11th.

the closing ceremony at the world airgames was breathtaking. the best pilots in the world got their gold , solver and bronze medals. So did we................

Yesterday we did not fly and so everybody joined a day off.

Relaxing, getting power again and enjoing the day.

Fritz the jump master is still in hospital. On sunday he will come out.

Franzois Bon is the new jump master now, and thanks a lot to Mauricio Braga who stopped competing for making us the judge !

Today we were flying two tasks. One solo and one synchro.

The weather was beautiful and erverybody had very good conditions. The television made a two hour live broadcasting in the afternoon during our acro sessions.

Our jump master Fritz had an accident during a dropping procedere. There was a line of the paraglider between his fingers. When Dennis Soerensen dropped, the line damaged the finger from Fritz. He is still in hospital and at the moment we do not know how to continue the comp without Fritz.

Tomorrow we will not compete.

This morning we did not think about flying because it was still raining. But at 1pm the weather was good to make the first synchro task.

Horacio Llorens came back from hospital and made a drop from the helicopter before the task. He felt quite well and made about 20 turns of infinte.

The team from Italy destroyed themself during a synchro spiral. Chicco Patuzzi crashed with full speed into the stabilo of Max Dallòglio. Thank god nothing happend. Only some broken lines and some burned skin on chicco`s leg.

Gabor Kezi kicked off a fotographer from the raft during his landing.

All in all it was a breathtaking task with funny situations and high level syncho displays.

Today Raoul and Hernan got their re-run.

Horacio Llorens is still in the hospital and it doesn`t seem that he can continue the competition. He feels quite well, but flyinig manouvers could be difficult.

Before we were ready to start the first synchro task, the wind got stronger. Also the cloud base was very deep and the helicopter had to find a place between the clouds to drop the pilots. The decision was clear: Cancellation for the synchro task.

The weather forecast says not the best conditions for tomorrow, but we will try to make one task.

Today, 20 pilots started from the Helicopter to compete in the solo competition.

We had to choose a free anounced programm. The Helicopter was flying a little bit too fast during the drops and so three wings broke during the hard opening. Pal Takas had a big hole in the glider, Raul Rodrigues had a burned main line after the drop, and Hernan Pitocco had also some broken parts inside the cannopy.

Pal took the glider from his synchro Partner Gabor and made a pretty nice programm in his re-run.

Raul and Hernan get their re-run tomorrow before the first synchro competition starts.

Horacio Lorens had a hard landing on the raft and went to hospital directly after his landing. Now in the evening he feels much better and he feels able to fly the synchro comp tomorrow.

After the re-runs from Raul and Hernan there will be the first results ot the first run.
